In today’s digital age, teenagers are not only avid users of technology but also creators and innovators. With rising advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), many talented youths are harnessing their skills to develop groundbreaking applications. These young entrepreneurs are redefining what it means to be a “regular teenager” by leveraging AI to solve complex real-world problems and positively impact society. In this article, we will showcase some of the top AI-based apps developed by remarkable youths aged between 13 to 16 years old during our recent hackathon.

CounseLink

Developed by a group of middle school students, CounseLink is an AI-powered mental health app that aims to support users in managing their emotional well-being. The app utilises natural language processing to analyse user input, providing personalised suggestions for stress reduction techniques, mindfulness exercises, and self-care practices. CounseLink’s intuitive interface and empathetic design make it an effective tool for promoting mental health among teenagers.

CO2Green

Concerned about the environmental challenges facing our planet, a team of teenagers created CO2Green, an AI app designed to encourage sustainable practices. By utilising computer vision and machine learning algorithms, CO2Green enables users to identify and categorise actions based on their carbon footprint. It also provides information on local recycling centres and offers tips for reducing their carbon footprint, helping users make eco-friendly choices in their daily lives.

MasterPlan

Recognizing the struggles of managing work schedules and personal commitments, a group of ambitious teenagers developed MasterPlan, an AI-based scheduling app. MasterPlan uses machine learning algorithms to understand users’ weekly patterns and preferences. It then generates personalised weekly plans, suggests relevant tasks to prioritise, and even displays a percentage bar to track progress for each task scheduled. With MasterPlan, users can optimise their time and achieve a better work-life balance.

Bright

Inclusive technology is at the heart of Bright, an AI-powered app created by a team of socially conscious teenagers. The app is designed to assist visually-impaired individuals to lead more enriched and independent lives. Through computer vision and speech recognition, Bright helps users identify physical text and convert it into spoken language. By leveraging AI, Bright aims to break barriers and empower individuals with vision difficulties to live with greater autonomy.

Papa Bucks

Addressing the pressing issue of financial illiteracy, a group of enterprising teenagers developed Papa Bucks, an AI app that helps enhance financial savviness and promote healthier financial practices. By leveraging machine learning, Papa Bucks analyses users’ expenditures and savings goals to suggest cheaper alternatives to spending. It also sends timely reminders to take advantage of favourable deals and promotions before they expire. Papa Bucks aims to inspire smarter consumption and contribute to the reduction of unnecessary financial burdens.
