Course Overview
Ever wondered how things are made, or how smart fridges, smart doorbells, Amazon Echo, Google Home devices, and other "Internet of Things" tech gadgets work? These devices are transforming our daily routines, making life more convenient and connected.
In this programme, you’ll start by learning the basics of coding and get hands-on with programmable microcontrollers such as the M5Go to craft practical prototypes that react to sound, touch, and light. Then, you'll have a chance to build your own physical devices with 3D printing.
This course is perfect whether you’re looking to start a new project, boost your tech skills, or just have some fun creating. It’s practical, engaging, and designed to help you bring your ideas to life. Come join us and experience the thrill of digital making! Find out more here.
Lesson Outcomes
In this introductory course to digital making, you'll dive into the core technologies that power smart devices like smart fridges, smart doorbells, Amazon Echo, and Google Home first using programmable microcontrollers.
For a complete learning journey, you'll also explore beginning techniques in 3D printing and digital fabrication, with an interactive experience designing, sourcing, and fabricating practical projects. This hands-on approach ensures you gain practical experience and a solid foundation in digital maker development.
By the end of the program, you will have learned to:
Understand what "digital making" is, and how it applies to modern prototyping and crafting
Appreciate the world of "Internet of Things" (loT) by sending sensor data online for practical applications
Learn and apply introductory coding concepts to program microcontrollers
Understand the fundamentals of 3D modelling for practical applications
Design and 3D print custom components
