Course Overview
In 2023 and 2024, we ran a 5-day holiday bootcamp for students, teaching game development with Unity! Please stay tuned for updates.
Unity is a powerful and versatile game engine, with cross-platform features that appeal to both small developers and large game studios. 40% of the top 1000 mobile games and 50% of all new mobile games are built with Unity. By learning Unity, students will be better poised to enter and contribute to these industries.
Lesson Outcomes
Understand Unity’s interface and workflow (scenes, GameObjects, components).
Design 2D/3D game levels using Unity’s tools (Tilemap, ProBuilder, or basic primitives).
Implement game mechanics (player movement, collisions, physics, scoring systems).
Script in C# to create interactivity (variables, loops, conditionals, functions).
Work with assets (import sprites, 3D models, audio) and optimize them for games.
Debug and test games using Unity’s Console and Play Mode.
Publish a standalone game (build for WebGL, PC, or mobile).
Apply iterative design through prototyping, playtesting, and feedback.
