## Which AI for Fun module is right for our school?

It depends on your level. Primary schools can take two 5-hour modules: Generative AI, and AI with Smart Robots, which covers computer vision and sensors. Secondary schools take one 10-hour module on training data, bias, large language models, custom chatbots, and prompting. Students need to have completed Code for Fun, or a comparable programme, first. AI for Fun is an IMDA and MOE programme, and MOE schools apply during the annual September to October window.

## Course Overview

AI for Fun is a CODE@SG programme by IMDA and MOE that teaches primary and secondary students how artificial intelligence works, through hands-on lessons on generative AI, chatbots, and smart robots. This page describes how we teach it.

**Our scheme of work**
Our programme is designed around the See, Think and Act framework. This is a structured approach used to enhance understanding, decision-making, and action whilst helping students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. We believe adoption of this framework will help spark curiosity about technology and allows students to see how technology is used in the real world, providing them confidence in using technology in work and life and to solve problems for their community. We will be using Padlet for all lessons. We believe that using Padlet in the classroom can significantly enhance student engagement, provide flexibility for different learning abilities, and support meaningful formative assessments.

## Lesson Outcomes

## AI for Fun for Primary Schools

Aligned to the goal of Smart Nation 2.0 to prepare our next generation for the digital future, students will be provided opportunities to learn more about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and enhance their digital and AI-related skills. Since 2025, primary schools have been able to take two 5-hour AI for Fun modules. Students will get to learn more about Generative AI and AI with Smart Robots through these engaging AI courses. Under the two modules, students will have hands-on experience in learning the following:

1. Generative AI

    - Natural Language Processing

    - Safe and responsible use of Generative AI

    - Applying Generative AI for ideation and content creation

2. AI with Smart Robots

    - Computer vision

    - How smart robots respond to inputs via sensors

    - Integrating Computer vision with smart robots to solve problems

## AI for Fun for Secondary Schools

Aligned to the goal of Smart Nation 2.0 to prepare our next generation for the digital future, students will be provided opportunities to learn more about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and enhance their digital and AI-related skills. Since 2025, secondary schools have been able to take a 10-hour AI for Fun module.

Under the AI for Fun module, students will have hands-on experience in learning the following:

1. How the quantity and quality of training data affects AI performance

2. How biases are formed in AI-generated content

3. The societal implications of AI

4. Large Language Models

5. Custom chatbots

6. Writing effective prompts for Generative AI

7. Applying Generative AI to solve problems related to a theme such as Sustainable Living

## How to apply?

All Ministry of Education (MOE) government and government-aided secondary schools are eligible to apply for the AI for Fun module. Students are required to complete the Code for Fun programme or a comparable programme before they are eligible to participate in the AI for Fun module. If schools are on Code for Fun, AI for Fun may be taken up by the same cohort (e.g. Secondary 1 cohort to do both CFF and AIFF) or a later cohort (e.g. Secondary 1 cohort to do CFF, Secondary 2 cohort to do AIFF). Application instructions will be sent to all MOE government and government-aided secondary schools between September to October annually. Schools keen to apply for the programme should submit their application within the application window stated.
